The SAW Esports Arena is the first infrastructure in Portugal exclusively dedicated to a professional eSports team. Inaugurated in October 2024, this facility integrates a certified, complete barpa solution, ensuring a reliable performance ecosystem and marking a milestone in the professionalization of this rapidly growing sector.
Implemented Solution
The network architecture was carefully designed to support high-demand environments such as LAN gaming and simultaneous streaming across multiple platforms, including the following components:
- OM5 barpa fiber optic backbone, with 12-fiber cables per link, in a star topology with ring redundancy, enabling up to 6 channels of 100 Gbps via cable.
- 3 barpa Norma 3 Floor Racks, strategically positioned for maximum efficiency and accessibility.
- 120 Cat.8 S/FTP network points, supporting 40 Gbps traffic with minimal latency.
- 20 Cat.6A U/FTP network points, dedicated to high-performance Access Points (10 Gbps).
The barpa solutions applied, designed to address the challenges of high-traffic and low-latency environments, ensure scalability, robustness and readiness for future technological developments in this project.
This project stands out as a landmark in technological infrastructure applied to spaces dedicated to eSports in Portugal. The integration of barpa connectivity solutions, combined with effective coordination between implementation and certification teams, enabled us to deliver a high-performance, reliable network that is ready to meet the challenges of such a demanding environment.

Integrator
This project is the result of an effective collaboration between specialists working daily to meet the demands of the digital world. The structured cabling installation was carried out by Renato Simões, Unipessoal Lda, a specialist in electrical and telecommunications installations. The infrastructure certification was handled by Justbit, an official barpa integrator with vast experience in high-performance network solutions.
